Its own agent page says the price comes with a Plus or Pro membership, in the line under the heading. Standard at $149 does not qualify. The cheapest route is Plus at $249. Minnesota asks for a registered office and only offers you a registered agent. Section 322C.0113 says every LLC shall have a registered office and may have a registered agent. Section 5.36 fills in the rest. The address cannot be a P.O. box, it has to be an actual office location, and if you do name an agent, that agent's business office must be the same address.
That address does the work most states give to a person. No members or managers go on the Articles of Organization. For a lot of LLCs the registered office is the only address in the public record. A service swaps in its own.
Switching your registered office is not free. Whatever you have read, the Secretary of State charges $35 by mail and $55 online for a Change of Registered Office and Agent. One narrow case is free. Section 5.36 waives the fee when you are correcting an address that was never a real office.
Minnesota charges you more to file online. That sounds backwards and it is real. Filings at the counter and online are processed expedited, mail is first in, first out, and section 5.14 lets the Secretary of State add a flat $20 surcharge to any expedited transaction. The Annual Renewal costs nothing. It is still the deadline that matters, because you file by December 31 or the state dissolves the LLC. Getting it back costs $25 by mail or $45 online, on top of the renewal you skipped. Free to keep, paid to recover.
