GoDaddy runs about eight times more domains than Namecheap, has 24/7 phone support in 15+ languages, and carries a May 2025 FTC settlement tied to three breaches between 2019 and 2022. Namecheap is cheaper on renewals by a meaningful margin, has no confirmed direct breach in 2024 to April 2026, and is chat only.

For the first domain, the math is simple. Namecheap costs less in year one and renews for less every year after. The only reasons to pay GoDaddy extra are if you know you will pick up the phone during a bad week or if you plan to put a Microsoft 365 mailbox on the same invoice.
