Code §31B-1-108 calls the role the agent for service of process, and whoever you name goes on the Secretary of State's public database with their street address. List yourself and your home shows up. Its own agent page says the price comes with a Plus or Pro membership, in the line under the heading. Standard at $149 does not qualify. The cheapest route is Plus at $249. So a founder who wants only an agent pays $374 in year one, and the same every year after. Already paying for Plus for the documents and attorney access? Then $125 on top is fair. The June 30 deadline is hard. The report costs $25. Miss the date and the state adds a $50 late fee, with no grace period (W. Va. Code §59-1-2a). Go 30 days past due and the Tax Commissioner can suspend the business registration certificate you need in order to trade. That is the real risk, not the $50.

Since July 1, 2026 you can file every two years. The rule is new. An LLC with five straight on time reports, in good standing, may elect biennial filing. You then pay $50 every two years. If you already have five clean years, you can elect between January 1 and July 1, 2027. Lose good standing and the state can take the option back.
