How We Chose the Best LLC Services for Wyoming

Every service claims Wyoming expertise. We checked the claims the hard way. We filed through the Secretary of State, paid the $100 fee plus the state's 2.4% card charge, and watched the filing clear the same day. Then we pushed each provider on what Wyoming founders actually ask about. That means anonymous setup, Series LLCs, and the $60 annual report. The ones that gave real Wyoming guidance beat the ones that just filled in a form.

LLC Formation + Business Identity

+ state fees

  • Preparation and filing of Articles of Organization
  • 1 full year of Registered Agent service included
  • Operating Agreement draft

Northwest Registered Agent is our top pick for LLC formation. Their $39 package now includes what they call a Business Identity: a business address, domain name, website with hosting, email, phone service, and mail scanning, on top of the formation filing and a year of registered agent service. No tiered plans, no upsell games during checkout. They are a family-owned, privately held company with U.S.-based Corporate Guides who actually know what they are talking about. The dashboard is more utilitarian than polished, but that is a fair tradeoff for the most complete formation package at this price.

Pros

  • Flat $39 formation fee with no tiered packages or hidden add-ons.
  • Full Business Identity included: business address, domain, email, website, and phone service.
  • Free year of registered agent service with privacy protection.
  • Free mail scanning (up to 5 documents) and renewal reminders.
  • Same-day filing with no extra rush fees.
  • U.S.-based Corporate Guides who actually answer the phone.

Cons

  • Customer support is not available on weekends.
  • Online cancellation process can be cumbersome.
  • Trial digital services auto-renew if you forget to cancel.

Best For: Founders who want a complete business setup (formation, address, domain, email, website, phone) in one flat-fee package with no upsells.

ZenBusiness offers the smoothest LLC formation experience available. The guided setup walks first-time founders through every step, and the $0 Starter plan only requires you to pay state fees. The dashboard sends compliance reminders so you do not miss deadlines. Watch for pre-checked upsells during checkout that trigger recurring annual costs, and know that the Pro plan renewal jumps to $199/year. A strong choice if you want a polished, beginner-friendly formation process.

Pros

  • $0 Starter plan requiring only state filing fees
  • Highly intuitive dashboard that simplifies the formation process
  • Responsive support team available on Sundays
  • First year of Worry-Free Compliance included for free
  • Excellent mobile app for managing your business on the go

Cons

  • Heavy push for add-on services during the checkout process

Formation is the free part. The logo and website builders are easy to use, and the guided setup is beginner friendly. The catch is checkout. Plan prices stay hidden until the end, a $39 a month bookkeeping trial comes pre-checked, and the registered agent most founders need costs $199 a year. That puts the real first-year cost near $309 in a state like Delaware. If you want branding and formation together, it works. If you only need the LLC, Northwest files for a flat $39 with no upsells.

Pros

  • Free Lite plan covers the LLC filing and standard processing
  • Beginner-friendly dashboard that is easy to navigate
  • Built-in logo maker and website builder in one dashboard
  • Customer support available on weekends
  • Guided questionnaire walks you through setup

Cons

  • Plan prices stay hidden until the end of the questionnaire
  • Pre-checked $39 a month bookkeeping trial you must cancel yourself
  • Registered agent service costs $199 a year, more than budget rivals

Best For: First-time founders who want LLC filing and basic branding tools in one place.

FileNow delivers a remarkably fast and straightforward LLC formation experience. We appreciate that 24-hour processing is standard across all plans instead of being an expensive add-on. The checkout process is completely transparent with zero pre-checked upsells or hidden fees. However, because the base plan costs $49 and does not include a registered agent, budget-conscious founders might prefer cheaper alternatives.

Pros

  • 24-hour order processing included on all plans at no extra cost
  • Transparent pricing with zero hidden fees or pre-checked subscriptions
  • Simple two-tier pricing makes choosing a package easy
  • Premium plan provides excellent value by bundling essential startup documents
  • Customer support is accessible via phone, chat, and email

Cons

  • No free formation tier available
  • Starter plan does not include registered agent service
  • Lacks advanced legal tools and ongoing compliance dashboards

Best For: Entrepreneurs who prioritize fast 24-hour processing and straightforward, transparent pricing.

Swyft Filings lives up to its name by offering some of the fastest LLC formation times on the market. Their 5-step setup process is simple and easy for beginners to understand. However, their aggressive upsells and missing registered agent service make their $0 starting price highly deceptive. We recommend them only if you desperately need same-day processing and know exactly which add-ons to decline.

Pros

  • Exceptionally fast processing speeds
  • Streamlined 5-step application interface
  • Knowledgeable and responsive phone support
  • Basic package starts at $0 plus state fees
  • No confusing legal jargon during setup

Cons

  • Registered agent service costs an extra $149 per year

LegalZoom relies heavily on its brand recognition to charge premium prices for basic services. While the platform is easy to navigate and offers excellent legal document libraries, the checkout process is a maze of expensive upsells and auto-renewing trials. We do not recommend it if you are on a budget. You will end up paying significantly more for registered agent and compliance services than you would with competitors.

Pros

  • Highly intuitive platform that is easy for absolute beginners to navigate.
  • Access to a massive library of legal documents and forms.
  • Long-standing brand reputation provides reliability and peace of mind.
  • Customer support is available seven days a week.
  • Basic LLC formation is free excluding mandatory state fees.

Cons

  • Incredibly aggressive upselling for simple tasks like obtaining an EIN.
  • Registered agent fees are heavily inflated at $249 per year.
  • Checkout includes pre-selected free trials that auto-renew at high prices.
  • Standard processing times are slow unless you pay a $99 expedite fee.

Best For: Founders prioritizing brand recognition and access to an extensive legal document library.

What Makes a Good LLC Service for Wyoming Founders

Wyoming skips two taxes that most states charge. There is no personal income tax and no corporate income tax. Only three states pull that off, with Nevada and South Dakota. Nevada then charges a Commerce Tax once a business passes $4 million in revenue. Wyoming charges nothing at any size.

Anonymous ownership is the default here. You do not file extra paperwork or hire a nominee. The Articles of Organization ask only for the organizer and the registered agent. Your name as a member never goes on the public record. That puts real weight on which Wyoming registered agent you hire, because their address is the one the state prints.

Wyoming also allows Series LLCs. One parent LLC can hold separate cells, each with its own assets and liability shield. Real estate investors use this to wall off properties. The state charges $10 for every series you establish, on top of the $100 filing fee. Name a series later and you file articles of amendment within 30 days, which is another $60.

Good standing certificates are free in Wyoming. You download one online whenever a bank or lender asks. Not every state is free. Montana charges $5 for the same paper.

What to Do After You File Your Wyoming LLC

  1. Get a Wyoming registered agent first. The agent needs a real street address in the state, not a P.O. box. Most services include year one, then bill a renewal. The comparison above shows what each one charges, and our Wyoming registered agent guide covers the standalone options.
  2. Draft an operating agreement. Wyoming does not require one. But your bank will ask for it when you open an account, and it backs up your liability shield in court.
  3. Get an EIN from the IRS. It is free and takes about 5 minutes at irs.gov. You need it to open a bank account, hire, or file federal taxes.
  4. Get a sales tax license, but only if you sell taxable goods. Wyoming's state rate is 4%. Some counties add up to 2% on top. You register with the Wyoming Excise Tax Division.
  5. File your annual report by the first day of your anniversary month. The fee is $60, more only if your Wyoming assets top $300,000. Miss it and the state dissolves your LLC 60 days later. File at the Wyoming Secretary of State.
  6. Check whether you owe a federal BOI report. In March 2025, FinCEN dropped this filing for every LLC formed in the United States. A Wyoming LLC owned by U.S. persons files nothing. Only foreign companies report now. Confirm at FinCEN before you file.

Wyoming LLC Tax Overview

Wyoming has no personal income tax, no corporate income tax, and no franchise tax. Most LLCs meet just one state tax. That is the 4% sales tax, and only on taxable sales, which you register for with the Wyoming Excise Tax Division. Your profit is taxed once, at the federal level. It is why Wyoming ranks with South Dakota and Nevada as the friendliest states to form in.

Hidden Costs to Watch Out For in Wyoming

  • Online filing costs more than $100. The state adds a card processing fee of 2.4%, minimum $1, to anything paid through its portal. So a new LLC pays $102.40, and the $60 annual report costs $61.44 online. Mail it in and you pay the flat fee, but you wait up to 15 business days.
  • The annual report fee can climb. The floor is $60. Above $300,000 in Wyoming assets, it rises to $0.0002 per dollar. Most small LLCs never leave the $60 floor.
  • Name reservation costs $60. Holding your name before you file runs $60 for 120 days. You can skip it if you are filing today.
  • Losing your registered agent is the expensive one. Miss enough annual reports and getting reinstated costs $100 plus back fees. Lose your registered agent and the state charges $350. Nothing on the schedule costs more.
Horizontal bar chart of Wyoming Secretary of State LLC fees from cheapest to costliest. A certificate of good standing is free online, each series in a Series LLC is $10, the yearly annual report minimum is $60, a 120 day name reservation is $60, reinstatement after missed annual reports is $100, Articles of Organization filed online with the card fee are $102.40, and reinstatement after losing your registered agent is $350, the largest bar.
Wyoming Secretary of State Business Division fee schedule effective July 1, 2026, plus the state portal's 2.4% card processing fee (minimum $1). Name reservation fee from the Secretary of State's Application for Reservation of Name. Verified July 29, 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions About Wyoming LLCs

How much does it cost to form an LLC in Wyoming?

Plan on $102.40 to file online. That is the $100 Secretary of State fee plus the state's 2.4% card processing charge. File by mail and it is a flat $100, but you wait. You also need a registered agent with a Wyoming address, and the comparison above shows what each service charges for one. After that, the only recurring state cost is the $60 annual report.

Does Wyoming require a registered agent for an LLC?

Yes, every Wyoming LLC needs one. The registered agent must have a physical street address in the state. It can be a resident who is at least 18, or a company cleared to do business in Wyoming. P.O. boxes and mail forwarding do not count. Most founders use their formation service for year one, then compare on our Wyoming registered agent page.

How long does LLC formation take in Wyoming?

Wyoming approves online filings on the spot. There is no expedite option, and the state says so in its own filing instructions, because standard online processing is already instant. Once the Secretary of State accepts it, your LLC is active and you can open a bank account. Paper filings take up to 15 business days from the day the office receives them. File online if you want it done today.

Can I form an anonymous LLC in Wyoming?

Yes. Privacy is the whole point here. Wyoming does not put member or manager names on the Articles of Organization. Only the organizer and registered agent show up in public records. Use a formation service as organizer and a commercial agent, and your name stays off every state filing.

How much does it cost to maintain a Wyoming LLC each year?

The state asks $60 a year, due the first day of your anniversary month. That is the minimum license tax. It only rises if your Wyoming assets top $300,000, and then it is $0.0002 per dollar. Filing that report online adds the same 2.4% card fee, so $61.44. Everything else you pay yearly goes to your registered agent, not the state. Miss the report by 60 days and Wyoming dissolves the LLC.

What is the biggest disadvantage of a Wyoming LLC?

The catch is for non residents. Form in Wyoming while you live and work elsewhere, and your home state usually makes you register the LLC there too, as a foreign LLC. Now you pay both states, plus an agent in each. Wyoming still wins on privacy and no income tax. It just will not dodge your home state's taxes.

All online. Filing, the annual report, and your registered agent relationship all happen remotely. You never need to set foot in the state.

I do not live in Wyoming. Does forming there still make sense for a small online business?

Daniel WongStartupOwl team

It depends where the money is made. If you run the business from another state, that state will likely want you registered there too, which doubles your costs. Wyoming shines for privacy, no state income tax, and low fees, but it is not a tax escape hatch if you operate elsewhere.

how much does a wyoming llc cost, seeing different numbers everywhere

Daniel WongStartupOwl team

$100 to file the Articles of Organization, then a $60 minimum annual report license tax each year. The different numbers you see usually include a registered agent service, which non residents need since the agent must have a Wyoming street address, typically $50 to 300 a year.
